Since Ryan built his first commercial furniture piece in 2008, Baldwin Hardwoods has grown from a simple idea into a business that has connected us with thousands of incredible customers, makers, designers, and fellow wood enthusiasts. What began with a passion for giving urban trees a second life has become a trusted local company, known for handcrafted custom furniture, exceptional hardwood slabs and unique lumber.

Every dining table, bar top, mantel, slab, and piece of hardwood lumber that has left our showroom carries a story, and so do the relationships we’ve built along the way. Whether you’ve purchased lumber for your own woodworking projects, trusted us to create a handcrafted furniture piece, or simply stopped by the showroom to admire the wood, you’ve been an important part of our journey.

Today, we’re excited to share news about the next chapter of Baldwin Hardwoods.

At the end of 2026, we will be closing the doors to our retail showroom. This means we will no longer offer traditional retail shopping for lumber, slabs, or showroom furniture.

But Baldwin Hardwoods is not going away.

Starting in 2027, we’re narrowing our focus to the work that has always inspired us most:

• Designing and building exceptional custom furniture for residential and commercial clients.
• Sourcing premium hardwood slabs and lumber by leveraging our nearly 20 years of experience and deep industry connections to help woodworkers and commercial clients find the perfect material for their projects.

This transition allows us to devote more time, creativity, and craftsmanship to custom projects while continuing to serve clients looking for extraordinary hardwood slabs. It’s an exciting evolution that reflects where we believe we can provide the greatest value. By refocusing on custom furniture, we’re excited to devote our time to collaborating with homeowners, designers, architects, and builders, and helping clients find extraordinary hardwood slabs through the industry relationships we’ve built over nearly two decades.

If you’ve been thinking about purchasing lumber, a live edge slab, or one of our showroom furniture pieces, we encourage you to visit us before retail operations conclude at the end of the year. We’ll be offering a series of exciting sales, discounts, and events through December 2026, and look forward to seeing many familiar faces before then.

As we debated this decision, we thought most about how much support and loyalty we’ve appreciated from you and other customers since we opened our first retail space in 2018. 

As we look ahead to the future, we want to say thank you for supporting our family-owned business. Your encouragement, referrals, and trust have made this journey possible, and we are incredibly grateful.
